Week 7 Bible Reading

Mon. Ruth 3:1-18 Ruth Finds a Husband: What surprising methods has God used in your life?

                 This Bible reading was about Ruth trying to find a husband to take care of her. Naomi told Ruth that she needed to find a home for her, so she has to go meet up with Boaz. After Boaz was done eating and drinking he lied down and when he awoke soon after he was startled by a woman by his feet(Ruth). He told her to find the next close relative, but if he was not willing than he would do it. Some surprising methods that God has used in my life are that he healed some people of numerous diseases and did not let many people die that still had a purpose. God has done many things to keep me believing in Him.

Tues. Ruth 4:1-22 A Happy Ending: What future reasons could there be for obeying God today?

                 This Bible reading was about a happy ending between Ruth and Boaz. Boaz went to town to try to find someone to buy Elimelek's land. Boaz bought the land and redeemed Ruth as his wife. Boaz and Ruth had a child after the got married and named in Obed in which Naomi embraced him. Some future reason for obeying God is going to heaven. If you obey, follow, and live for God than you will go to heaven in the future.

Wed. 1 Samuel 1:1-28 A Serious Prayer: What promises have you made to God lately that you have kept?

                 This Bible reading was about a serious prayer that Hannah prayed to have a son. Elkanah (Eli) married Hannah and the Lord closed Hannah's womb. Hannah prayed a lot to God to open her womb and give her a son. Eli thought that Hannah was drunk by the way she was praying. Soon after that, Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to her son, Samuel. I made a promise to God that I will continue on with a life of Godliness and praise to Him. I have kept that promise for a while now and I intend to always keep it.

Thurs. 1 Samuel 3:1-21 God Calls Samuel: When you read God’s Word, what do you expect Him to say to you?

                  This Bible reading was about God calling Samuel to do something. Samuel was minister at the time where ministry was rare under Eli. Eli's eyes had become to grow weak and he could barely see. God called Samuel, but Samuel did not know God. Samuel kept going to Eli because he kept hearing his name, but it was God calling him. God then showed Himself to Samuel through His word. I expect Him to say or teach me a lesson or show an example of myself through others. I always get what I expect for when it comes to the Bible through God.

Fri. 1 Samuel 8:1-5 Samuel’s Disappointing Sons: Are you ever tempted to be greedy and unfair? How can you change?

                   This Bible reading was about Samuel's sons disappointing Samuel. When Samuel grew older he had to appoint his sons as the leaders of Israel. Samuel's sons turned against him and accepted bribe and perverted justice. The elders in Israel came to Samuel to tell him to pick a native King because sons have been dishonest and Samuel himself was too old. I am tempted to be greedy and unfair when it comes to anything between my younger siblings. I always think that since I'm the oldest that I need more of everything including attention, but I am changing my ways.

Week 6 Bible Reading

Mon. Judges 15: 1-20 Samson and the Jawbone
What proof do you have that mistakes usually don’t correct themselves?

                This Bible reading was about Samson’s vengeance on the Philistines. Samson wanted to get even with the Philistines from them telling him to cheat on his wife. The Philistines burned his wife and his father-in-law. Samson was brought to be a prisoner, but sleighed a thousand men with a donkey jawbone. When I make mistakes they usually don't correct themselves. I make a lot of mistakes and not one has corrected itself without anyone else.

Tues. Judges 16:1-21 Samson and Delilah
In what situations do you find yourself flirting with disaster?

                  This Bible reading was about Samson and Delilah's story. When Samson went to Gaza, he saw a prostitute and spent the night with her. The people of Gaza knew this and waited outside the pace to kill Samson when he came out. Samson escaped in the middle of the night and fell in love with a girl in the Valley of Sorek. The people went to her to find Samson's secret of his strength. Delilah never found out how to tie him up, but found his strength. While Samson was sleeping she cut his hair and he became weak. When I follow my friends into bad things. I think that is 'flirting' with disaster and bad character.

Wed. Judges 16:22-31 Samson’s Death
How well do you understand God’s patience?

                   This Bible reading was about how Samson died. Samson's hair grew back soon, but the Philistines had him prisoner. The Philistines made Samson perform for the people to entertain them. Samson asked the Lord for strength one more time to bring the whole temple down with him. Samson killed the temple, all of the people, and himself. I understand God's patience very well that he can be very patient. He was very patient with Samson's sins and life-style.

Thurs. Ruth 1:1-22 Ruth and Naomi – A Friendship
How do difficulties affect your friendship?

                       This Bible reading is about Naomi and Ruth's friendship. Naomi's husband died, and her two sons died after marrying Ruth and Orpah. Naomi and her daughter-in-laws moved out of where they have been living. Naomi told her daughter-in-laws to go back home, but Ruth wanted to stay while Orpah went back. After that Ruth and Naomi became great friends and moved to Bethlehem. Difficulties can ruin or strengthen a friendship, but it depends. Many difficulties have ruined many friendships for me and it is tough, but the Lord pulls through.

Fri. Ruth 2:1-23 Ruth Meets Boaz
When have you found your reputation to be an advantage?

                           This Bible reading was about Ruth meeting Boaz in a grain field. Ruth went to the field to get the leftover grain for Naomi, but the field was Boaz's. Boaz figured out who Ruth was and told her to stay there with the other women harvesters. Boaz wanted to do nice to her as she has done for her mother-in-law. Ruth stayed in Boaz's field and lived with Naomi, but still worked for Boaz and was not touched. I found my reputation to be an advantage to my parents because they wanted to know this man's name for witnessing purposes. I knew his daughter because of my reputation and got the name of her dad for my parents.

Week 5 Bible Reading

Week 5

Mon; Judges 4:4-24: Judge Deborah: How do people know that you care about them?

          This Bible reading is about how Deborah was the leading Israel around that time and sent out for Barak who took her to Kedesh. Barak went up to Mount Tabor with his ten thousand men, but then had to come down to see God. At the end God subdued Jabin, king of Canaan, before the Israelites until they destroyed him. People know that I care about them when I always ask them what's the matter. I always do the nice thing and ask someone who looks sad, what's wrong and try to help them out.

 Tues; Judges 6:1-40: Gideon Becomes a Judge: What examples of obedience can be found in your life?

         This Bible reading is about the Israelites doing evil in the eyes of God. Whenever they tried to plant their crops other groups of people would invade the land. The Israelites cried out to the Lord in which He sent them to a prophet, Gideon. Gideon then talked to God and pretty much took care of them. The examples of obedience in my life can be when I am asked to do something for anybody, I do it. Also I follow directions that anyone gives me unless they are bad.

Wed;
Judges 7:1-25: Gideon and the Midianites: In what area of your life do you need to trust God more?

         This Bible reading is about Gideon defeating the Midianites with too many men to start off with. The Lord told him that so he kept three hundred and let the others go. The Lord kept telling Gideon that he would give him Midian. Gideon and his men sneaked in and took over Midian. I need to trust God more when it comes to thinking of my dad. I need to trust God that He will move into my dad's life and save him.

Thurs; Judges 13: 1-25: The Birth of Samson: In which part of your life do you need more discipline?

         This Bible reading is about how Samson was born. The Israelites did evil again so God delivered them into the hands of the Philistines for forty years. Manoah's wife came to Manoah and said that a man of God told her that she was going to have a baby. Manoah knew she was unable to give birth so he did not believe her until he sacrificed some items and God showed Himself to him. I need more discipline when it comes to back talking to my parents. I usually get caught, but I need more discipline to stop it.

Fri;  Judges 14:1-20: Samson’s Riddle: How carefully do you consider the wisdom of your parents?

         This Bible reading is about Samson getting married. Samson saw a Philistine woman and told his parents that he wanted her as a wife. He faced a young lion roaring at him on the way to meet the woman, in which the spirit of God allowed him to break the lion in half, but he did not tell anyone. When he came back to marry her he stopped and took some honey that he found in the lion's carcass along with some bees. He then held a feast for everyone and told everyone a riddle in which no one gave an answer for three days. The people threatened Samson's wife to make her husband tell the answer or burn her and her father's household. On the seventh day he finally told her the answer in which she explained it to her people. Samson then gave away his wife to someone who attended the feast because of his anger. I consider the wisdom of my parents very carefully. I always make sure that I listen to their wisdom in any situation.

Week 4 Bible Reading: Friday

Week 4

Friday; Joshua 24:1-31;

              This Bible reading was about Joshua assembled the tribes of Israel at Shechem. Joshua was talking to them about all that God has done for them. He then told them to fear the Lord and get rid of all the false gods and ancestors worshipped be the Euphrates River. The people then decided that they will serve the Lord. After talking to the tribe Joshua died at the age of a hundred and ten. I can get hope from history that the Lord will come back one day. In history Jesus came and got crucified, so he could come back any day now.

Week 4 Bible Reading: Thursday

Week 4

Thursday; Joshua 23:1-16;

                     This Bible Reading was about Joshua summoning all of Israel's elders, leaders, judges and officials to tell then that is he is very old. He told them a lot about  to listen to God and be brave, strong, and respectful to God and for God. He then told them how he was about to die and leve the earth. I need to obey the warning about to not worship any other gods before the one, true God. If I don't obey this warning I will surely perish like the Israleites once did.

Week 4 Bible Reading: Wednesday

Week 4

Wednesday; Wed. Joshua 10:1-15;

                        This Bible reading was about the Israelites attacking Gibeon because they became allies of Israel. Joshua told God something like a poem about the sun standing still before they attacked Gibeon. That day that Israel attacked Gibeon was the only day that the sun stood still high in the sky for one full day. I know God is powerful because of all the miracles I have seen and all the stories I have heard of. I read the Bible a lot and I know now that God everything including powerful.

Week 4 Bible Reading: Tuesday

Week 4

 Tuesday; Joshua 7:1-26;

                   This Bible reading was about the Lord's anger burning against Israel because Achan took some of the Israelites. In this story the Lord's wrath goes out on all of Israel because od Achan's sin that he comitted. The Lord had a very serious dicussion with Achan and then all of Israel stoned him. I have experienced many negative and positive consequences in my life. I have once forgot to bring my cat in from outside, so she ran off and got attacked. She came back with a wounded foot and a limp. A positive consequence that I experienced is when I decided to stop seeing my dad every other weekend, so I don't get nervous every other weekend about what he is going to ask me.

Week 4 Bible Reading: Monday

Week 4

Monday, Joshua 5:13-6:27,

               This Bible reading was about God coming to Joshua and telling him that where is was standing was holy and that he had to dust off his sandals. Joshua had another saying from the Lord that told him to walk around the city of Jericho with armed men for six days, but on the seventh day walk around it seven times with the priest blowing trumpets. The covenant from the Lord stayed with the people when Joshua told them about the seven priest walking around the city seven times on the seventh day with seven trumpets. I am very serious about letting God use me in many ways towards bringing people to Christ. When God wants to use me I am always for it.
