3Q Week 6 Friday Bible Reading

Fri. Nehemiah 5:1-19 Nehemiah's Concern for the Poor
How do you help the poor?

In this reading all the people were telling Nehemiah their problems, charges, and hardships which made Nehemiah angry. Nehemiah stood up for them and got the people to give everything back and promise too. Nehemiah had done a good thing and rejected all food for himself that it would go to feed those people, he asked God to remember him for this act. I help the poor by fellowshipping with them and giving the clothes and things they need because they need it more than I do.

3Q Week 6 Thursday Bible Reading

Thurs. Nehemiah 2:1-20 Nehemiah Returns to Jerusalem
What relationships in your life need to be rebuilt?

In this reading when Nehemiah took wine to the king the king wondered why he was sad and Nehemiah grew afraid. Nehemiah had set the time of great journey to rebuild the city where his ancestors are buried. Nehemiah went to Jerusalem and got great help which helped him start rebuilding the area. I think the relationship with my dad and I needs to be rebuilt spiritually with God on our sides and in our conversations.

3Q Week 6 Wednesday Bible Reading

Wed. Ezra 3:7-13 Rebuilding the Temple
How do you feel when you’re working on a large project?

In this reading they gave money to the carpenters and the masons, gave food and olive oil to the people, and brought in cedar logs. With all of this they began building the house of the Lord with the help of the Levites any much more. The foundation of the house was laid and everyone gave loud shouts of joys along with some weeping. I feel motivated when I work on a huge project because I just want to get it done so all the stress is gone and there will be no more worries.

3Q Week 6 Tuesday Bible Reading

Tues. 2 Kings 22:1- 23:3 Discover the Lost Book
What happens in your life when the Bible is a “lost” book?

In the eighteenth year of Josiah's reign he sent a secretary to the temple of the Lord and told him to have the people repair the temple. Hilkiah found the book of the law and Shaphan read some in the presence of the king. The king was inflamed and tore his robes, but the person that wrote the book with what the Lord said told the secretary and others all what the Lord had told her and with that they returned it to the king. The king pledged the book to the people and then took the covenant to follow the book as well did the people. If the Bible were the 'lost' book then my whole would act differently. They would not be praying but arguing which would turn out well for further generations.

3Q Week 5 Friday Bible Reading

Fri. 2 Kings 5: 1-27 The Healing of Naaman
What ‘small” things have you refused to do for God?

In this reading some Aram raiders took captive over someone who served Naaman's wife and knew who could cure his leprosy. When the king got the letter of Naaman's coming to him he got offended and Naaman wrote him a letter asking why. Elisha said to wash himself in the Jordan River seven times in order to be cleansed of his leprosy, but Naaman was raged that he didn't just see him in person. Gehazi met Naaman and conned him into giving him things in which Gehazi caught Naaman's leprosy when Elisha said he would. I think that I wouldn't kill someone else for God unless it absolutely had to be done in God's eyes.

3Q Week 5 Thursday Bible Reading

Thurs. 2 Kings 2: 13-25 Elisha’s Miracles
How would someone else know that you have a deep respect for God?
In this reading Elisha appeared to have the power of Elijah when he struck the water with Elijah's cloak. The company of prophets watching persisted Elisha into sending fifty men out to look for their master. Elisha performed miracles such as healing the water that produced death and bad production of land. Elisha had some boys that were jeering, but when but a curse in the name of the Lord on them two bears came out of the wilderness and killed forty-two of the boys. Someone would know that I have a deep respect for God if I bring him up in conversations or stand up for him in unjust situations.

3Q Week 5 Wednesday Bible Reading

Wed. 2 Kings 2: 1-12 Elijah’s Chariot
How far will you go to carry out a commitment that you make?
In this reading Elijah told Elisha to stay where he was for the Lord had sent him to Benthel, but Elisha went with him. Elijah told him to stay where he was because the Lord has sent him to Jericho, but Elisha went with him as the same thing happened when the Lord sent him to Jordan. On their walk a chariot with horses came down and took Elijah to heaven while Elisha tore his cloak in two.

3Q Week 5 Tuesday Bible Reading

Tues. 1 Kings 22: 29-40 Death of King Ahab
When are you tempted to think that you can hide from God?

In this reading Anab told Jeosophat that he was going into battle in disguise while he wore his royal robes. When the people thought that Jeosophat was Ahab one of the warriors threw their spere randomly and hit Ahab in between his armor. Ahab died that night because of his wounds and his son took over his reign. I am sometimes tempted to think that when I know I did someting bad and I didn't want God to find out, but I always know that he will forgive me.

3Q Week 5 Monday Bible Reading

Mon. 1 Kings 21: 1-29 The Stolen Vineyard
How important is justice in your life?

In this reading Ahab got mad because Naboth would not give him the inheritance vineyard. When Jezebel, his wife tried to cheer him she told him that she would get him that vineyard. Jezebel faked letters from Ahab saying things that would make people who lived close to Naboth angry at Naboth. The people listened to her letters and stone Ahab to death, but the Lord told Elijah to tell Ahab that dogs would eat his wife, but when Ahab humbled it did not happen. Justice is very important in my life because without it no one would survive in this world.

3Q Week 6 Monday Bible Reading

Mon. 2 Kings 11:1-21 The King Who Was A Kid
Who are your best examples in life?

Ahaziah proceeded to kill the entire royal family when she saw that her son, Joash, was dead, but he actually wasn't dead. Jehoiada made a covenant with the guards  to stay close to the king and kill anyone who comes in their way. The guards obeyed and when Ahaziah, the mother of Ahaziah mother of Joash, tried to get in their way she was put to death and the temple of Baal was destroyed. Joash was only seven years old when his reign as king began. My best examples in life are my parents. I try always to do what my parents do in situations, but on my age level.

3Q Week 4 Friday Bible Reading

Fri. 1 Kings 19: 1-21 Spiritual Burnout
When was the last time you felt sorry for yourself?

Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah and after that Elijah was on the run for his life to stay. On his run he laid under a bush and slept until an angel appeared to him and told him to eat, then the angel came again and told him to eat and with this strength he traveled forty days and forty nights. The Lord came to Elijah and told him to do something in which he did, he went to the mountains and heard a voice that told him to go to the desert of Damascus where he found a servant, Elisha. I felt sorry for myself when I was going through the divorce of my parents. I felt sorry for my self's pain, but I realized that I should not be sorry for my pain and that I should trust in God for help.

3Q Week 4 Thursday Bible Reading

Thurs. 1 Kings 18: 16-46 Elijah vs. the Priests of Baal
How would you describe your attitude toward God’s power today?

Elijah told Ahab to bring the people of Israel and other people to Mount Carmel where they came and Elijah said choose God or Baal. Then Elijah put two cattle before them and told the people of Baal to choose theirs and cut it in pieces for a sacrifice, and told them that the god who answers with fire to the sacrifice is God. The people of Baal called upon him to burn the sacrifice, but it did not work for the whole day of shouting until Elijah prepared his and but stones water and dry wood. Elijah's sacrifice to the Lord burned and the other one did not. I would describe my attitude towards God today after reading this as astounded by how much God is alive in our lives.

3Q Week 4 Wednesday Bible Reading

Wed. 1 Kings 17: 1-24 God Takes Care of Elijah
How do obeying and trusting God go together in your life?

The word of the Lord came to Elijah and he did what the Lord told him to do, but the brook dried up from the lack of rain in the land. The Lord came to him again and said a widow would have food by the gate, but she did not have anything, but a jar of flour and a little olive oil. Elijah told her to go home and make him a loaf of bread with what she has, so she did so. The widow's son had become ill and Elijah told her to give him to him, and the Lord surely gave the boy back his life. Obeying and trusting God go together in life because if anyone doesn't do both of them then they can't go to heaven.

3Q Week 4 Tuesday Bible Reading

Tues. 1 Kings 12: 1-24 Solomon’s Unwise Son
Who are some people you know who will give you good advice?

King Rehoboam told his people to go away for three days and then come back to him. Rehoboam rejected the advice the elders had given him and his people came back to him, but the king refused to answer them. The king sent sent someone to them, but they stoned him to death. King then told his troops to start war with Israel, but the Lord stepped in and all the people obeyed his word and did not fight. Some people I know will give me good advice are my parent because in any situation they are always there for me.

3Q Week 4 Monday Bible Reading

Mon. 1 Kings 10: 1-13 Solomon and the Queen of Sheba
When are you tempted to try to impress people?

The Queen of Sheba heard about Solomon's fame and wanted to ask him hard questions, but they were not hard for Solomon. The Queen was overwhelmed with his wisdom and achievements that she gave him one hundred and twenty tablets of gold, a lot of spices and precious gems. Solomon gave the Queen everything she wanted and with that she returned to her country. I am tempted to try and impress people when I am in a competition with random people for fun. I always want to prove myself to others that I can do a lot than what people give me credit for.
