Week 6 Bible Reading

Mon. Judges 15: 1-20 Samson and the Jawbone
What proof do you have that mistakes usually don’t correct themselves?

This Bible reading was about Samson’s vengeance on the Philistines. Samson wanted to get even with the Philistines from them telling him to cheat on his wife. The Philistines burned his wife and his father-in-law. Samson was brought to be a prisoner, but sleighed a thousand men with a donkey jawbone. When I make mistakes they usually don't correct themselves. I make a lot of mistakes and not one has corrected itself without anyone else.

Tues. Judges 16:1-21 Samson and Delilah
In what situations do you find yourself flirting with disaster?

This Bible reading was about Samson and Delilah's story. When Samson went to Gaza, he saw a prostitute and spent the night with her. The people of Gaza knew this and waited outside the pace to kill Samson when he came out. Samson escaped in the middle of the night and fell in love with a girl in the Valley of Sorek. The people went to her to find Samson's secret of his strength. Delilah never found out how to tie him up, but found his strength. While Samson was sleeping she cut his hair and he became weak. When I follow my friends into bad things. I think that is 'flirting' with disaster and bad character.

Wed. Judges 16:22-31 Samson’s Death
How well do you understand God’s patience?

This Bible reading was about how Samson died. Samson's hair grew back soon, but the Philistines had him prisoner. The Philistines made Samson perform for the people to entertain them. Samson asked the Lord for strength one more time to bring the whole temple down with him. Samson killed the temple, all of the people, and himself. I understand God's patience very well that he can be very patient. He was very patient with Samson's sins and life-style.

Thurs. Ruth 1:1-22 Ruth and Naomi – A Friendship
How do difficulties affect your friendship?

This Bible reading is about Naomi and Ruth's friendship. Naomi's husband died, and her two sons died after marrying Ruth and Orpah. Naomi and her daughter-in-laws moved out of where they have been living. Naomi told her daughter-in-laws to go back home, but Ruth wanted to stay while Orpah went back. After that Ruth and Naomi became great friends and moved to Bethlehem. Difficulties can ruin or strengthen a friendship, but it depends. Many difficulties have ruined many friendships for me and it is tough, but the Lord pulls through.

Fri. Ruth 2:1-23 Ruth Meets Boaz
When have you found your reputation to be an advantage?

This Bible reading was about Ruth meeting Boaz in a grain field. Ruth went to the field to get the leftover grain for Naomi, but the field was Boaz's. Boaz figured out who Ruth was and told her to stay there with the other women harvesters. Boaz wanted to do nice to her as she has done for her mother-in-law. Ruth stayed in Boaz's field and lived with Naomi, but still worked for Boaz and was not touched. I found my reputation to be an advantage to my parents because they wanted to know this man's name for witnessing purposes. I knew his daughter because of my reputation and got the name of her dad for my parents.
